Keppel Energy's 150 MW power barges complex commenced operation on 1 December 2006 in Ecuador following a successful redeployment from Brazil, where the power barges were previously operating.
Termoguayas Generation S.A. (“TGSA”), Keppel Energy’s wholly owned subsidiary in Ecuador, had in January 2006 signed a 15-year concession contract with the National Council of Electricity to operate in Esclusas, in the southern part of the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador. TGSA receives capacity payment in addition to revenue from selling kwh energy onto the national grid in a competitive market environment.
This is a significant milestone. The deployment will enhance the value of the power asset and Keppel’s entry will make a meaningful contribution in enhancing the security of power supply in Ecuador.
