TGSA
Keppel Energy’s 150 MW
power barges commenced generation on 1 December 2006 in Ecuador
following a successful redeployment from Brazil, where the power barges
were previously deployed.
Termoguayas Generation S.A. (“TGSA”), Keppel
Energy’s wholly owned subsidiary in Ecuador had in January
2006 signed a 15-year concession contract with the National Council of
Electricity to operate in Esclusas, in the southern part of the city of
Guayaquil, Ecuador. TGSA will receive capacity payments in
addition to revenue from selling the power into the national grid under
a competitive market.
This is a significant milestone. The deployment will enhance
the value of the power asset and Keppel’s entry will make a
meaningful contribution in enhancing the security of power supply in
Ecuador.
