Keppel Merlimau Cogen
Keppel Merlimau Cogen Pte Ltd ("Keppel Merlimau Cogen"), a special purpose vehicle incorporated by Keppel Energy to build, own and operate a 500 MW cogeneration plant, will be the first independent power project to enter the Singapore electricity pool following the deregulation of the power market in January 2003.
When completed, the plant is expected to be one of the more cost efficient and flexible power generators in the market. The development of Keppel Merlimau Cogen is in line with Keppel Energy's strategy of achieving return-driven growth in the energy business through selective development and provides the platform for Keppel Energy to seek further growth options in the Singapore electricity and gas markets, and beyond.
